Cookies are short text fragments (letters and/or numbers) which enable the web server to memorise, on the client (browser), information to be reused during the visit itself (session cookies) or later, even after a few days (persistent cookies). Based on user preferences, cookies are memorised by the single browser on the device used (computer, tablet, smartphone).
Similar technologies, for example all forms of local storage introduced with HTML5, can be used to collect data on the user's behaviour and on use of services.
Further on in this document we will refer to cookies and all similar technologies solely using the term cookie.
Types of cookie
Based on cookie characteristics and use we can distinguish different categories:
Cookies strictly needed
. These cookies are indispensable for correct functioning of the Bella Gerit website and are used to manage login and access to the website's reserved functions. Cookie duration is strictly limited to the work session (they are cancelled when the browser is closed). Deactivation compromises use of services accessible through a login. The public part of the Bella Gerit websites normally remains usable.
Analytics and performance cookies
. These cookies are used to collect and analyse traffic and use of the website anonymously. Though without identifying the user, they enable, for example, detecting whether the same user returns to connect to the website at different times. They also permit monitoring the system and improving performance and usability. Those cookies may be disabled with no loss of functionality.
Third party cookies
On visiting a website you can receive cookies from both the website visited (proprietary) and from websites managed by other organisations (third parties). An important example is the presence of social plugins for Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus. These are parts of the page visited generated directly by those websites and integrated into the hosting website. The most common use of social plugins is to share content on social networks.
The presence of these plugins involves transmission of cookies to and from all the websites managed by third parties. Data collected by third parties is regulated by the relative information to be referred to.
To guarantee greater transparency and comfort, here below are the web addresses for the different information notices provided and how cookies are managed.

The Bella Gerit website includes components transmitted by Google Analytics, an analytical service supplied by Google, Inc. (Google). In this case too, these are third party cookies collected and managed anonymously to monitor and improve the performance of the host website (performance cookies).
Google Analytics uses "cookies" to collect and analyse data anonymously, on use behaviour on the Bella Gerit website (including the user's IP address). That data is collected by Google Analytics which then processes it to draft reports for Bella Gerit operators on the activities of the website itself. This website does not use (and does not allow third parties to use) the Google analytics tool to monitor or collect personal identification data. Google does not associate the IP address to any other data owned by Google nor does it try to match an IP address to a user's identify. Google can also communicate this data to third parties if obliged to do so by law or if those third parties process that data for Google.

The user can selectively disable Google Analytics by installing the opt-out component supplied by Google on its browser. To disable Google Analytics, please refer to the link below:
This website could incorporate videos through "embedding" from YouTube; the latter could use its own cookies and/or similar technologies. For further information please consult the following link:
Some cookies (session cookies) only remain active until the browser is closed or when the user logs out. Other cookies survive browser closure and are still available for the user's next visits.
These are called persistent cookies and their duration is set by the server when they are created. In some cases an expiry date is set; in others duration is unlimited.
Bella Gerit, does not use persistent cookies, except for those recording a possible user choice that accepts cookies (duration 365 days).
However, when navigating website pages you can interact with websites managed by third parties which could create or modify permanent and profiling cookies.
The user can decide whether to accept the cookies or not through his/her own browser settings.
Warning: full or partial disabling of technical cookies could compromise use of website functions reserved for registered users. On the contrary, public content can be used even if cookies are fully disabled.
Disabling "third party" cookies does not prejudice navigation in any way.
Settings can be defined specifically for different websites and web applications. The best browsers also consent to defining different settings for "proprietary" cookies and for "third party" ones.
For example, in Firefox, through the menu Tools >Options ->Privacy, you enter a control panel where you can establish whether to accept the different cookie types or not and remove them.
